Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies the result. Oldham County Criminal History does not keep or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or contact submission may be retained for the purpose of responding. It remains within the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a page loads, servers may automatically receive basic technical information about that visit:
- The referring website, when one is supplied
- Page-view dates and times
- Pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Browser name and version
- Device category and operating system
- The device's assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They help show, in aggregate, how visitors move through the site, which pages receive traffic, and where visits end. Analytics providers assist with compiling this information. A browser can be set to reject cookies, although disabling them may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Routing a search request to the applicable partner service
- Detecting and correcting performance or technical problems
- Measuring which resources visitors use
- Operating the site and maintaining reasonable load times
- Displaying advertising that may reflect inferred interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Oldham County Criminal History does not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record information. Its published material identifies official routes for Oldham County records, including local courts, the sheriff, the Kentucky State Police Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. Visitor information is not assembled into a report about another person. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes. Information submitted through a box is handled under that provider's privacy terms rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Oldham County offices, Kentucky court portals, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor follows such a link, the destination's privacy policy applies. Review it before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may use activity across more than one website to select ads. That processing occurs on the provider's systems.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure use and performance
- Advertising networks that place ads
- Search partners processing a submitted query
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, commonly used safeguards protect collected information. No internet-connected system can be guaranteed secure, however, so the site cannot promise that unauthorized access or another breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Information identified as belonging to a minor may be submitted for deletion through the site's contact channel.
Your Data Rights
Rights over visitor data can vary with a person's place of residence and any applicable privacy or consumer-protection law. Kentucky's Open Records Act, KRS 61.870–61.884, concerns access to public-agency records rather than privately held visitor data. KRS 17.185 governs controlled Kentucky State Police self-checks, and KRS 17.580 governs good-faith dissemination through the state sex-offender registry. Subject to the law that applies, a person may:
- Request deletion of personal data
- Ask for access to personal information held about that person
- Opt out of processing where the applicable law provides that choice
- Seek correction of inaccurate information
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. A new version will be posted here and will carry its own effective date, allowing visitors to review the current data practices.
Effective date: July 26, 2026
